After months of interviews, questionnaires, reference checks and prayer seeking the Holy Spirit’s leading, the FBCW Elders and Children’s Ministry Search Committee are excited to announce their recommendation of Ms. Anna Klipa to serve as the next Children’s Minister to the families of First Baptist Church of Woodbridge. On April 3rd, Anna will be in all three services to share her testimony and call to ministry. The Elders will present a motion to the congregation to affirm Anna becoming our Children’s Minister followed by a vote of congregational affirmation in all three services.
Anna is a native of Tampa, Florida who placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 6. She was baptized a year later with her older brother (Pete) and sister (Jessica). While at summer camp during her 8th grade year, Anna felt the Lord clearly calling her to full-time ministry. Since then, she has had the privilege to serve at two large Southern Baptist Churches as a Children’s Ministry Associate and then a Minister to Children experiencing the joy and blessing of cultivating relationships with numerous families.
Anna earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in 2013 and a master’s degree in Children’s Ministry from Dallas Baptist University in 2021. From 2010 to 2018 Anna served as the Preschool & Children’s Ministry Associate at the multi-campus Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Florida. She helped enlist and equip 225 volunteers each week to serve the 800-1,000 children, birth through 6th grade, that attended classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Anna took on increasing levels of responsibility during her tenure at Bell Shoals including serving as the lead for their annual Vacation Bible School program for over 1,500 children as well as summer camps, retreats, fall festival, Easter programs and other special programs. From 2018 to 2020 Anna served as the Minister to Children and Families at Hunter’s Glenn Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, a church of over 1,000 members. Anna recruited, trained, and personally supervised 6 staff members that served hundreds of children and their families in the Preschool and Children’s Ministry programs as well as the Childhood Learning Center. In addition to organizing VBS, summer camps, fall and spring activities, child dedications and Bible presentation ceremonies Anna also developed a new believer’s class for children and had the joy of seeing 22 children baptized in the first year. With a heart for ministering to children alongside of their families Anna proposed, developed, and then led the church’s first Family Retreat a cross-ministry event attended by 40 families and staff members. Following graduation from DBU she is currently serving in the Children’s Ministry at Fishhawk Fellowship Church in Lithia, Florida while working as a personal assistant.
Anna’s vision for Children’s Ministry is to focus on building relationships with children, parents, volunteers, and staff to advance the mission of the church. She considers her calling to be an equipper, that she has been gifted, “to equip the saints for the work of the ministry” as is stated in Ephesians 4:12. Her ministry objectives are to (1) seek the Lord daily through prayer and reading of God’s Word, (2) help children build trusting relationships with others that will lead them to trust in Jesus, (3) provide foundational teaching and a well-rounded spiritual education that includes worship and discipleship, (4) partner with parents and encourage and equip them in their role as the primary disciplers of their children, and (5) reach this generation of kids with the gospel, one child at a time.
Anna’s love language is quality time. She enjoys playing (and winning) games, traveling, eating steak and spending time with family and friends. She was a high school and college soccer player who loves watching and playing sports. Her current rooting interests are the Packers and Buccaneers, but her greatest joy is to see children put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ and follow Him in baptism.
Under the supervision of the Executive Pastor, the Minister to Children plans, conducts, and evaluates a comprehensive Children’s Ministry (CM) that focuses on the spiritual growth of children along the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge (FBCW) 4D Discipleship Pathway. The Children’s Minister ministers to children from birth through 6th grade and their families. While CM tasks are the primary responsibility, the Children’s Minister will also work in concert with the FBCW Lead Team and be available to assist other staff members when needed on projects and tasks unrelated to the Children's Ministry. Staff members at FBCW foster and adhere to a teamwork model in order to accomplish our mission and have a greater impact on the entire church.
After many weeks and months of reviewing resumes and potential candidates for the Children's Minister position at FBCW, the search committee has felt led to explore one candidate in particular. The candidate's qualified and unqualified references have been contacted and thoroughly evaluated and an initial interview with the search committee has occurred. As a result of this interview, the committee recommended that this candidate interview with Pastor Brad. The interview with Pastor Brad went very well and the search committee is recommending and currently planning for a visit to FBCW in the coming weeks to explore FBCW and the Woodbridge area. During this visit, further interviewing and vetting will occur with committee, Council, and Elders.
These are exciting steps for our church and Next Generation ministry at FBCW. We ask that you continue to pray for God's clear direction as we move ahead with these next steps.
We have provided a 10-week prayer guide that you can use to pray along with the Committee as they continue their work this Fall. Every kid or student that prays with us throughout the next 10 weeks can turn in their completed prayer guide for a special gift as a "thank you" for praying for our new Children's Minister. Please consider partnering with us in prayer for this important process.
